A team-wide AI-assisted development cockpit

Shared context. Isolated work. Human decisions.

The engineering problem

AI-assisted coding within one repository addressed only part of the work. Changes often crossed APIs, web interfaces and mobile applications, while architecture decisions and engineering standards needed to remain consistent.

I designed ecohope-workspace as a team-wide AI-assisted development cockpit spanning 14 active repositories. Its purpose was to give agents the context and repeatable process needed for cross-system work.

Conceptual workspace model, rather than a deployment diagram.

Repository-level ecohope-workflow guidance established delivery conventions. The workspace brought repositories, shared architectural context, persistent progress and GitHub Project synchronization into a coordinated working environment.

The delivery controls

Clarify before implementation

Agents first understand the task, ask structured clarification questions and propose an implementation plan. Human approval establishes the direction before development begins.

Isolate concurrent work

Separate workspaces allow independent tasks to progress across different sets of repositories. Isolation reduces interference, while shared standards preserve a common engineering approach. Cross-task changes still require integration review.

Keep progress outside the conversation

Persistent task state and shared documentation support continuity across sessions. These records must be maintained as work changes; shared context is only useful when it reflects the current system.

Retain human delivery gates

The workflow progresses through understanding, clarification, planning, human approval, implementation, local testing, human review, commit, pull request and approval before merge. Agents do not independently decide that their own changes are ready for production.

What this established

The result was a repeatable team workflow for AI-assisted development across 14 active repositories, combining shared context with task isolation and explicit review controls.

The contribution was the engineering operating model: how requirements, architecture, agent context, implementation and human decisions connect. Productivity gains have not been quantified here.
